Office Interiors The Skill of The Office Designer

The purpose of having office is to get utmost work from employees and maximum business from customers. To achieve this, two factors are very much important i.e. minimum disturbance to staff and minimum inconvenience to customers should be the aim of the designer. Interior designs are a talent and art influencing people’s standard of living and employees work efficiency. When it comes to designing of office interiors then office designer plays a major role. Before a commercial interior designers starts his work on any office project, he should first understand the clients requirement, his choice, the management of his office, nature and size of an office staff, his budget and other factors which will help him to decide the color scheme, the planning for the departments, sitting arrangement of staff and other considerations. Then only the designer can understand the dynamics of the office design.A A

Usually offices have two definite area of design. One is universal/ common which will be shared by all, like reception, filing, toilet areas etc. and other is specific according to individual requirements like plant room, computer suits, cafeteria, recreation room etc. The ideal designer has to absorb the client’s requirements, principles of perfect office design, his own perception/ understanding of an ideal office and then think of the innovative ideas. If in case he does not find any requirements of the customers well-matched with the parameters of exact clarification he is arrived at, he should try to do something different from such requirements with common discussion with the customer.

A general requirement of an office is a reception area, sitting arrangement of office staff, storage and extra material storage, conference rooms, toilet place etc. A reception area is must for every office, as all visitors need a place, where they can relax before meeting the desired person. Office staff is categorized as Executives, Office assistants, Assistant/helpers, Menials etc. Normally executives are higher level and lower level who would require a separate cabin or cubicle. Office Assistants like receptionists, telephone operators, typists, Clerks, stenographers, etc – the middle level staff requires proper work space. Staff like Peons, office boys, watchmen, delivery boys, etc. requires only sitting place.
